Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that dental visits can feel overwhelming for both parents and children. Our goal is to make every visit comfortable and stress-free for your family. To help you feel more prepared and confident, we've put together these frequently asked questions (FAQs) to address common concerns and help you know what to expect.
What are KidSmiles’ hours of operation?
Our hours are 8-5; however, our days of the week vary at each location. Please check our location pages for more information.
When should I book my child’s first appointment?
A child should have their first pediatric dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth eruption, whichever comes first. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends this early visit to ensure the child’s dental development is on track and to establish a relationship with the dentist.
Does KidSmiles treat adults?
We treat adults in the orthodontics area, but we do not treat adults for cleanings and operative procedures.
What insurance does KidSmiles take?
We accept all PPO insurance policies. Please contact our office to determine if your policy is considered in or out of network.
Does KidSmiles take Medicaid?
KidSmiles is not a medicaid provider.
What does KidSmiles do when it comes to dental emergencies?
There is always a doctor available to consult for emergencies. Please call 936-444-4044 for emergency contact information.
Why does my child need a pediatric dentist?
While a general dentist can treat children, a pediatric dentist has the specialized training, knowledge, and approach that cater specifically to the dental needs and comfort of children, making them a great choice for pediatric dental care.
What is the difference between a pediatric dentist and an orthodontist?
Pediatric dentists are focused on the general dental care of children, including preventive and basic treatment. Orthodontists specialize in correcting the alignment of teeth and jaws, and their treatments often involve braces or other appliances.
